Wood Windows Sash Balance Co. manufactures precision-engineered metal sash balance systems designed to deliver dependable window functionality and long-lasting performance. We back our products with a 1-Year Limited Manufacturer Warranty and a 1-Year Limited Fit & Finish Warranty to ensure your satisfaction and peace of mind.
In no case is Wood Windows Sash Balance Co. responsible for user-related damage or damage incurred during installation. Warranty is void if products are subjected to abnormal conditions, misapplication or abuse.
These warranties are the exclusive warranties offered by Wood Windows Sash Balance Co. and define the limits of our responsibility. Read them thoroughly to understand your rights and obligations.

1. Final Sale Policy

  • Custom-Engineered Components: All sash balance products are built to order. All sales are final. Deposits are non-refundable.
  • Order Approval: Once the order is approved in writing, further changes will incur additional charges.
  • Saltwater Proximity Clause: Installations within 500 yards of a saltwater shoreline are covered for half the warranty term due to environmental corrosion risk.
  • Corrosion Disclaimer: Exposure to salt, humidity, rain, and other environmental factors is considered normal wear and tear and is not covered.
  • Natural Disaster Disclaimer: Damage from events such as flood, fire, earthquake, or other Acts of God is excluded from warranty coverage.

2. 1-Year Limited Manufacturer Warranty

This warranty covers metal sash balance components fabricated and assembled by Wood Windows Sash Balance Co.

  • Warranty Term: 1 year (365 days) from the purchase date.
  • Covered Defects: Manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship.
  • Claim Remedies:

    • Repair the defective component(s), or
    • Provide a replacement component within 90 days of receiving a valid written claim.
  • Remainder Rule: Replacement parts are only covered for the remainder of the original warranty period.
  • Note: Product must be properly installed and maintained. Improper use voids the warranty.

3. 1-Year Limited Fit & Finish Warranty

Applies to sash balance components and covers deficiencies related to product fit (functionality, alignment) and finish (surface appearance, coating).

  • Coverage Period: 1 year from purchase date (or as specified under California Civil Code Title 7).
  • Fit Deficiencies: Includes defects affecting operability or market value.
  • Finish Deficiencies: Includes scratches, chips, coating issues that impact appearance or function. Minor imperfections are not covered.
  • Inspection Requirement: Products must be inspected upon delivery and before installation.
  • Care Instructions:

    • Store in a clean, dry location before installation.
    • Use approved lubricants (silicone spray or lithium grease) at least twice a year.
    • Avoid exposing components to prolonged moisture or corrosive conditions.

5. Hardware Warranty (Metal, Nylon, and Vinyl Parts)

  • 1-Year Warranty: Covers manufacturing defects on static and moving hardware parts.
  • Maintenance Requirements:

    • Lubricate hardware every 6 months.
    • Use proper materials to maintain smooth operation and prevent corrosion.

6. Warranty Exclusions

Warranty does not apply to:

  • Off-site modifications or post-delivery alterations.
  • Improper installation, negligence, or misuse.
  • Surface damage after delivery, including painting or unauthorized finish work.
  • Cosmetic wear, rust, or fading due to environmental exposure.
  • Variations in metal finish or color due to aging.
  • Damage from accidents, neglect, or natural disasters.

7. Filing a Warranty Claim

  • Provide a detailed written description of the issue.
  • Include job number, PO number, or invoice number.
  • Attach photos of the defective area(s).

  • Resolution Timeline: Valid claims will be resolved (repair or replacement) within 90 days.
  • Important: We provide parts only. Labor, shipping, finishing, or disposal costs are not covered.

8. Disclaimer of Other Warranties

This limited warranty is the only warranty offered. All implied warranties, including those of merchantability or fitness for a specific purpose, are expressly disclaimed.

9. Limitation of Liability

  • This warranty offers the exclusive remedies available.
  • Wood Windows Sash Balance Co. is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

10. Governing Law

This warranty is governed by California law, regardless of conflicts of law principles.

11. Entire Agreement

This document constitutes the full agreement between you and Wood Windows Sash Balance Co. regarding product warranties. No oral agreements or side deals are valid unless documented in writing and signed by both parties.

13. Severability Clause

If any provision of this warranty is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be deemed modified only to the extent necessary to make it enforceable or, if not possible, severed entirely from this agreement. The remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect as if the invalid or unenforceable portion had never been included.
